Pruno (Cilento)

Pruno is a sprawling settlement in a secluded woodland in the heart of the Cilento. It was distributed to the municipalities of Valle dell'Angelo, Laurino and Piaggine in the province of Salerno (Campania ). It has about 40 inhabitants.

Geography

The village lies at 600 to 1300 m slm. Adjacent communities are Cannalonga, Campora, Rofrano, Sanza, Novi Velia and Monte San Giacomo.

Pruno lies at the heart of the Cilento National Park in a forested mountain landscape. It is one of the most sparsely populated regions in Southern Italy, and therefore represents a particularly original landscape dar. Pruno is very secluded and is often cut off in winter from the outside world. Inhabitants ecological agriculture, which is designed to live as independent as possible.   • Pruno di Valle dell'Angelo ( zip code 84070 ) has about ten inhabitants and is one of the last purely agricultural villages of Europe. It lies west of Pruno di Laurino and east of Pruno di Piaggino.
  • Pruno di Laurino ( zip code 84057 ) has about 25 inhabitants and is located on the provincial road Piaggine - Rofrano. It lies on the River Fosso di Pruno and below the Monte del Raia pedals.
  • Pruno di Piaggine ( zip code 84065 ) has about seven inhabitants and is located west of Pruno di Valle dell'Angelo at Monte Gelbison.
