Pseudiragoides

Pseudiragoides is a genus of butterflies of the family of worm moth ( Limacodidae ).

Features

The moths are medium sized, solid color and have a brownish color. The antennae of the males are 2/3 as long as the Costa of the fore wings, double combed and have short Rami. The front wings are stretched, the Costa is slightly concave. In Disk Alber calibration is an indistinct blob. The vein R5 of the forewing is stalked with veins R3 and R4. The media loader is configured, but not branched distally.

The genitalia of the male of the uncus is simple, small and provided with a large apical spur. The Gnathos is well developed and is distally slightly slimmer. The Valven are elongated and have small saccular extensions with strong apical spurs. The Trans Tillae are strong, the juxtaposition is flattened. The aedeagus is slender and provided with two caudad directed ribbon-shaped apical appendages.

The representatives of the genus resemble those of habitually genus Iragoides Hering, 1931, however, the apex of the forewing is not pointed. The antennae of the males are longer and the butterflies are colored. The Valven the males have saccular appendages with apical spurs. The aedeagus has two apical appendages.

For the genus following apomorphies are suspected: for a well-trained sacculus of the male Valven with short saccular extensions which have large apical spurs, and on the other the aedeagus provided with two caudad directed ribbon-like appendages.

Dissemination

The species of the genus have been recorded in eastern China and northern Vietnam.

Systematics and etymology

The name of the genus was based on the similarity of their habitual with representatives of the genus Iragoides Hering, 1931. The type species of the genus Pseudiragoides spadix Solovyev & Witt was determined in 2009.
