Ptolemy of Epirus

Ptolemy (Greek Πτολεμαῖος ) was a king of the Molosser and hegemon of Epirotes of the dynasty of Aiakiden in the 3rd century BC.

Ptolemy was the younger son of King Alexandros ' II and his half-sister Olympias and a grandson of the famous Pyrrhus. His older brother and predecessor was Pyrrhus II Soon after his accession to power of, to a date not specified in the reign of his brother Demetrius II of Macedon ( 239-229 BC), Ptolemy was during a campaign against his enemies, probably the Aetolian federal, infest Ambracia of an illness from which he died. An otherwise report, he fell victim to an assassination. It is not unlikely that his death was related to the collection of Epirotes stood against the royal house. Ptolemy was the last male member of the ruling family of Aiakiden.
