Pu'er City

Pu'er (普洱 市) is a prefecture -level city in the Chinese province of Yunnan. It is to the former prefecture-level city Simao (思茅 市), which was renamed on January 21, 2007 in Pu'er. On this occasion also the administrative center ( municipality Cuiyun ) in the municipality of Simao and the Autonomous District Pu'er were renamed Autonomous District Ning'er.

Geography

The administrative area of the city of Pu'er Tea has a total area of ​​45,385 km ². It shares land borders with Myanmar, Laos and Vietnam. Kunming, capital of Yunnan province, located about 550 km from the city of Pu'er.

Population

The end of 2004, the population was about 2.36 million people. Besides Han Chinese living in Pu'er many ethnic minorities of China, especially Yi, Hani, Dai, Lahu and Va.
