Pudhota Chinniah Balaswamy

Pudhota Chinniah Balaswamy ( born October 10, 1928 in Valarpuram, British India; † 24 September 2009 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India) was the Roman Catholic Bishop of Nellore.

Life

Balaswamy was ordained priest on 24 April 1955. On 17 December 1973 he was by Pope Paul VI. appointed Bishop of Nellore. The Archbishop of Madras - Mylapore, Anthony Rayappa Arulappa, consecrated him on March 19 of next year to the bishop; Co-consecrators were Saminini Arulappa, Archbishop of Hyderabad, and Bala Shoury Thumma, Bishop Emeritus of Nellore.

On December 7th 2006, Pope Benedict XVI. its age-related resignation. At the age of 80, he died on 24 September 2009.

He had close contact with the Schoenstatt Movement.
