Pudivere, Lääne-Viru County

Pudivere ( German Poidifer ) is a village in the Estonian community Väike- Maarja in Lääne -Viru county.

The village currently has 50 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2006).

1586 the estate was founded by Pudivere. 1886/87 was the historicist main building made ​​of wood. Until 1919 it belonged to expropriation as Nebengut of Avanduse the aristocratic Baltic German family of Bremen. Today, the property is privately owned again. The manor was in a fire in 1999 but so badly damaged that the roof collapsed. The valuable wood ornaments were destroyed on the facade.

The village Pudivere is the birthplace of Estonian writer Eduard Vilde ( 1865-1933 ). At reminds him a memorial stone erected in 1965, about one kilometer from the village center. There probably was his birthplace in the 19th century.
