Pujilí

Pujilí is a small town in the province of Cotopaxi in Ecuador, near Latacunga with 6815 inhabitants ( 2001). It is the parish seat of Pujilí Canton. The inhabitants are mostly indigenous Ecuadorians Pujilís. Tourism is very weak here. Widely known the city is known for its weekly markets on Sundays and Wednesdays. In particular, the clothing sale has become a profitable business. Likewise Pujilí is known for its pottery and ceramics. Due to the low tourism, in contrast to Otavalo, the market received its indigenous form. This led, however, lately an increase in visitors in search of this authenticity. In addition Pujilí home to several churches, craft shops and a yellow- blue staircase from which you can overlook the entire city.
