Pumping Iron is a docu-drama from 1977 and is considered the cult film of bodybuilding. He illustrates the preparation of various bodybuilders for the Mr. Olympia contest ( the leading actors Arnold Schwarzenegger and Lou Ferrigno ) and Mr. Universe 1975 in Pretoria, South Africa.

While most of the performers together in the legendary Gold's Gym in Venice, California, trained to Lou Ferrigno preparing (later The Incredible Hulk, among other series cast of the TV series) ago under the guidance of his father in New York.

The film is not a pure documentary, because some of the content and scenes were invented to make the film more interesting. However, the stage recordings are authentic and have not been adjusted for the film.

The film is now available on DVD with a variety of additional material.
