Puntigam

Puntigam is the 17th and youngest both Grazer municipality.

History

The name Puntigam is not as suspected a local but a family name. He comes from that family who had owned a mansion, including restaurant and brewery since the early modern period, which developed into the Puntigam brewery in the 19th century. The district Puntigam in 1988 spun off from the 16th District Straßgang (with minor proportions of the 5th district of Gries ). After Graz incorporated and united in a common district with Straßgang Puntigam 1938.

Traffic

After Puntigam since the early days of the tram resulted in Graz Line 5 of the Holding Graz lines. By February 2006, the tram line 5 of Andritz Coming applied before Puntigamer Brauhaus. On the newly created transport Puntigam you can now in the city bus lines 62, 64, 78 and 80 and the S-Bahn, as well as the Southern Railway and around 2020 change to Koralmbahn.
