Pussycat (band)

Pussycat was a Dutch music group from Brunssum, which was especially successful in the 1970s.

Career

Pussycat was founded in 1975 by the three sisters Toni, Betty and Marianne Kowalczyk from Limburg. The sisters grew up in Brunssum and lost very early her father. The mother married a Pole who adopted her. The stepfather promoted the musical talent of the daughters.

In the 1960s, the three sisters founded the trio " Zingende Zusjes " and later " Beat Girls ". She sang alongside Dutch titles also some German songs. At that time, the group took on some plates. As the lead singer Toni married musician Lou Wille, there was temporarily the group " Sweet Reaction".

In 1975, the group was formed under the name Pussycat. In addition to the three sisters were in the aftermath other musicians in different occupation to the band.

The first single Mississippi ( produced by Eddy Hilbert ) became the biggest success of the band. The title stormed the charts in many countries, has also been included on German and gecovert later by other artists with other text. The follow-up single Georgie (1976 ) reached in the Netherlands and Germany still notable chart positions. Until the early 1980s, more singles and several albums were produced. Thereafter, the group was initially greatly reduced in the number of members, until they finally broke up in 1985, as the three sisters wanted to spend more time on their private lives.

Toni Wille continued working as a soloist and published in the Netherlands several albums, especially country music. Until today it is musically the way and occasionally occurs even at Oldie events.
