Puyo Puyo (series)

Puyo Puyo (Japaneseぷよぷよ), also known as Puyo Pop, is a puzzle game that was published from 1991 by Compile for various game consoles. The chief developer was Masamitsu " Moo " Niitani.

Before the games of the series outside of Japan have been renamed to Puyo Pop, released versions under the name Dr. Robotnik 's Mean Bean Machine ( Sega Mega Drive), Kirby 's Ghost Trap (in the U.S. Kirby's Avalanche, SNES) and Puzlow Kids ( Game Gear ).

It is based on the characters of the RPG series Mado Monogatari, which also comes from the pen of Masamitsu " Moo " Niitani.

Gameplay

Similar to the strategy classic Tetris falling blocks must be sorted by color ( Puyos here). Here, however, it always occurs against a virtual or human opponent. Once four or more same-colored stones come together, they dissolve and release if necessary by further down slipping Puyos a chain reaction that gives rise to the field known as Sturgeon Puyos that can only be removed by another chain reaction there again. The player whose first field is filled completely, lost.
