Pyotr Pavlovich Yershov

Pyotr Pavlovich Yershov (Russian Пётр Павлович Ершов; * 22 Februarjul / March 6 1815greg, .. .. † 18.jul / August 30 1869greg ) was a Russian writer and teacher and is the author of the famous rhyming tale " The Little Humpbacked Horse ".

Life

Pyotr Yershov was born in the village near the city of Ishim Besrukowo. He spent his childhood in Berjosow. From 1827 to 1831 he studied at the gymnasium of Tobolsk, where he founded a society for the ethnographic exploration of Siberia, according to various reports. At the State University of Saint Petersburg Yershov studied philosophy from 1831 to 1836. During this time he wrote his masterpiece " The Little Humpbacked Horse ". A great summary of the fairy tale was published in 1834 and made him instantly famous. Alexander Pushkin wrote that Yershov his verses so well mastered how a landowner his serfs. Furthermore, Pushkin was known that he would stop writing fairy tales, because it could Yershov much better ( although he later wrote a year, the " Tale of the Fisherman and the Little Fish ").

In 1836, Yershov returned to Tobolsk, where he worked as a teacher and since 1858 as Director of Tobolsk Gymnasium. He died in 1869 in Tobolsk.

His biographers state that Yershov his life was often plagued by accidents. 1834, shortly after the triumph of the " hunchback little horse ", his father and brother died within a few days. His mother died in 1838, his wife in 1845. Yershov married again in 1847, but his second wife died in 1852., Only six survived by his fifteen children.

Yershov published many poems, drama and short stories, of which nothing but the same success as " The Little Humpbacked Horse " reached.
