Pyrotechnic fastener

Pyrobolzen (also: explosive bolts ) are controlled separable compounds. For this purpose, a small explosive charge is ignited within this bolt without causing flying splinters arise. They are used for example for the separation of components in space or for dropping external fuel tanks on combat aircraft.

Alternatively, cutting charges for the separation of rocket stages are used.
