Quarter-Inch Cartridge

QIC ( Quarter Inch Cartridge ) is a historic magnetic tape system for backup (Backup ) and archiving of data. It uses cartridges for Z. up to 460 m long and 6.5 mm (¼ inch) wide magnetic tape. The small mini or mini DC QIC cartridges ( sometimes also called Travan ) contain but in later versions ( QIC Wide) 8mm tape and are thus not really a QIC tapes.

QIC is normalized by the Quarter - Inch Cartridge Drive Standards, Inc., an international association of drive and media manufacturers.
