Quatuor Mosaïques

The Quatuor Mosaïques is a string ensemble, which was founded in 1989 in Vienna by the vocal leaders of the Concentus Musicus Wien (see Nikolaus Harnoncourt ). It is dedicated to historical performance practice on period instruments. A focus is set beside the classical quartet literature in particular the Viennese Classical rediscoveries of unknown masterpieces of classical and early romantic (eg, by Louis- Emmanuel Jadin, Luigi Boccherini ).

The quartet has received numerous recording awards, including the Gramophone Award for the recordings of quartets by Haydn (1993 and 1996).
