It belongs to the municipality of Loulé, situated about 10 kilometers north of Loulé, in the southern foothills of the Serra de Calderão.

The church of the "Assumption " ( Igreja Matriz ) dates from the 16th century. Querença was mainly through its festivals, such as the Festa das Chouriças ( Sausage Fest, in January), the Festa do Petisco ( Delicacy Festival and in August ) and the Festa dos Folares ( " Easter Cake Festival" ) known regionally.
