Quill & Quire

Quill & Quire is a Canadian literary magazine about books and the publishing industry, which was founded in 1935 and has an average circulation of 5,000 copies in the print edition. The publisher assumes a readership of 25,000 recipients, as it is considered one of the major review journals for Canadian literature and thus is present in many academic and public libraries. The focus of Quill & Quire is on the discussions of novels, short story collections and anthologies. In addition, general news for the North American literary scene and the publishing, literary portraits or interviews will be published and provided a forum for discussion on general trends in publishing. The online version also presents an extensive review archive of 7716 meetings, dating back to 1996, a job board and a calendar of events.

History

Founded in 1935 by Wallace Seccombe 's Current Publications, the original out legislative focus of Quill & Quire was to support the Canadian literary scene just establishing itself through the discussion of interesting books. In 1971, Michael de Pencier the magazine of Southam Newspapers, which it had itself just six months.

Quill & Quire remained de Pencier as part of Key Publishers / Key Media Consortium for 30 years together, until it was sold in 2003 as part of a larger transaction, which involved Key Media at the St. Joseph Corporation. This Canadian company is in the print and media area active and is headquartered in Concord, Ontario.

Employee

The leading staff is headed by Stuart Woods, the editor in chief. Other key employees are Scott MacDonald, news editor; Steven W. Beattie, review editor and Dory Cerny, YA editor. The editors are Alison Jones and Attila Beri, founder and former owner of the small publishing house Riverbank Press. Athena St. Jacques is Art Director, Caroline Potter, the production manager and Larry Wyatt of Marketing Manager.

The former chief editor Derek Weiler passed away on April 12, 2009 to the consequences of his chronic heart condition. Other former chief editors were Ted Mumford, Scott Anderson, Kenneth Oppel, Bert Archer and James Grainger.

Characteristics

The publication is considered one of the key sites for short meetings for Canadian new publications on the book market.

At present the book at St. Joseph Media is laid out and bring the Toronto Life.
