Quim (footballer born 1975)

Quim [ CI] ( born November 13, 1975 in Vila Nova de Famalicão, Portugal, Joaquim Manuel Sampaio Silva actually ) is a Portuguese football goalkeeper.

Career

Association

Quim comes from the youth of the Portuguese club Sporting Braga. There he played until 2004. Afterwards he moved to SL Benfica record champions. He had his greatest personal success in 2009 probably the final of the Taça da Liga ( against Sporting CP), as he took to victory in the penalty shoot- SL Benfica, in which he held three penalties. In 2010 he moved free transfer back to Braga. After 14 seasons in the service of his home club Sporting Braga, Quim was announced in May 2013 not to renew his contract. Shortly after, he signed a contract with the Portuguese second division side CD Aves.

National team

With the national team he participated at the European Championships in 2000 and 2004, as well as at the World Cup in 2006 in part as a reserve keeper. His single use, he came here in the last and insignificant round match of the Euro 2000 against Germany, when he came on in the 90th minute for Pedro Espinha.

At Euro 2008 he was again nominated as a substitute goalkeeper, but was injured during training on the wrist and was replaced by Nuno Espírito Santo.
