Quintus Caecilius Metellus Nepos Iunior

Quintus Caecilius Metellus Nepos († 55 BC) was a politician of the late Roman Republic.

Quintus Caecilius Metellus Nepos was a son of Quintus Caecilius Metellus Nepos. He was active in youth often as a prosecutor, but probably not very significant. He went 67 BC as legate of Pompey into Asia Minor and later to Syria, where he remained until 63 BC. In the year 62 BC Nepos was tribune of the people and prevented Cicero accountability on the last day of the consulate. After violent conflict with his colleague Marcus Porcius Cato Uticensis he went to Pompey to Asia and was suspended by the Senate. Nepos was in the year 60 BC, praetor, and then probably governor of a province.

In the year 57 BC was Nepos with his relatives Publius Cornelius Lentulus Spinther consul and came despite previous enmity once and for Cicero's recall. He took 56 BC, at the conference of Luca part and then went as proconsul to Spain ( Hispania Citerior ), where he scored occasional successes against the Vaccaer. In the year 55 BC he returned to Rome and died a short time later.
