Quintus Caecilius Metellus Nepos

Quintus Caecilius Metellus Nepos (c. 135 BC, † 55 BC), son of Caecilius Metellus Balearicus, was a Roman politician. In the year 98 BC, he held the consulate.

One of the few known aspects of his life revolves around his marriage to Licinia crassa, the mother of his sons. Licinia was already married to Quintus Mucius Scaevola, as Nepos began a relationship with her. When they were discovered, Licinia was expelled and denounced as an adulteress. But Nepos, rather than to let it go, let divorced his wife and married Licinia less than a week later. The process seemed so scandalous that this wedding learned several mentions in the ancient sources.

As consul he issued in the year 98 BC, along with his colleague Titus Didius, a law on the publication deadline of bills. His sons were Quintus Caecilius Metellus Celer, consul in 60 BC, and Quintus Caecilius Metellus Nepos, consul in 57 BC
