Quintus Mucius Scaevola (Augur)

Quintus Mucius Scaevola (c. 170 BC, † 87 BC) was a Roman politician ( consul 117 BC) and a lawyer. To distinguish his eponymous relatives Quintus Mucius Scaevola Pontifex he is also referred to with the suffix Augur.

The son of the consul of 174 BC, the same was famous mainly as a legal scholar. His students included Lucius Licinius Crassus and shortly before death Scaevolas the young Marcus Tullius Cicero, the Scaevola was as a participant in his writings De re publica, De amicitia and De oratore occur. From Scaevola himself no traditional scriptures are known so far.

Scaevola held the offices of praetor (121 BC), managed by the province of Asia, and the Consulate (117 BC) at a later age than most usual.

Quintus Mucius Scaevola married a daughter of Gaius Laelius, his own daughter Mucia married his pupil Lucius Licinius Crassus already mentioned, the BC along with his relative Quintus Mucius Scaevola Pontifex exercised the consulate in 95.
