Quintus Tullius Cicero

Quintus Tullius Cicero ( 102 BC probably *, † 43 BC) was a Roman politician and the younger brother of Marcus Tullius Cicero.

He held various offices in the Roman Republic. 62 BC he was praetor and eliminated as such, the last remnants of the Catiline conspiracy.

From 61 BC to 58 BC, Quintus Cicero was governor of the province of Asia with the rank of propraetors. 57/56 BC, he served as legate under Pompey in Sardinia. 54-51 BC, he was legate Gaius Iulius Caesar in Gaul, 51/ 50 BC, he served as a legacy to his brother in Cilicia. Caesar pardoned him after he had initially been in the Civil War on the side of Pompey.

Like his brother Quintus was 43 BC proscribed along with his son and killed.

From him comes from ( probably) the Commentariolum petitionis ( "little memorandum to Office Application" ), ostensibly advice for his brother in his application to the consulate. He also wrote dramas, but other literary works are not known.

Quintus had a house on the Carinae in Rome. To 54 BC he had the Tellus Temple restored there. He was married to Pomponia, the sister of Titus Pomponius Atticus, the best friend of his brother, who believes that the marriage but did not seem very happy. 44 BC, the marriage ended in divorce.
