Quique Flores

Quique Flores ( 2010)

Enrique Sánchez Flores, short Quique Flores ( born February 2, 1965 in Madrid, Spain ) is a Spanish football manager and former football player. He is the nephew of the late Spanish dancer and actress Lola Flores.

Career

In the 1980s, Quique Flores played as a defender for FC Valencia. In 1994 he moved to Real Madrid and fulfilled a childhood dream. After two seasons in Madrid, he moved to Real Zaragoza for a short time before he took over as a supervisor, the youth team of Real Madrid.

Before the season 2004/ 05 he was hired by the team FC Getafe and occupied as a newcomer in the business coach with the club the remarkable 13th place in the standings. After this year at Getafe, he was obliged by Valencia as successor to Claudio Ranieri. In his first season (2005/ 06) he reached with Valencia to third place in the championship and qualified for the UEFA Champions League 2006/07. In May 2008 he signed a two-year contract with Benfica. However, this was dissolved in June 2009 by mutual agreement.

End of October 2009 Flores was introduced as the new coach of Spanish side Atlético Madrid. He signed a one year contract. In 2010 he celebrated his greatest success to date as a coach by winning the UEFA Europa League. Following the 2010/11 season Atlético announced the separation of Flores. Early November 2011 took Quique Sánchez Flores as coach at the club Al- Ahli in the United Arab Emirates.

National

Quique Flores completed a total of 15 games for the Spanish national team. His debut he celebrated 22 years on September 23, 1987 against Luxembourg (2-0). His last appearance in the national team he had on February 20 1991 against France ( 1:3).
