Rabban Hormizd Monastery

The monastery of Rabban Hormizd was and is an important monastic establishment of the East Syrian " Church of the East " or later and today the Chaldean Catholic Church. It is north of Mosul, about three kilometers northeast of Alqosh on the slopes of the mountain. From the mid-16th century to 1804, the monastery was the official residence of the East Syrian Catholicos - Patriarch of Seleucia - Ctesiphon. Several tombs and grave writings of the patriarchs are obtained.
