RÄ…bity

Rąbity ( German Rombitten ) is a town in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship in northeastern Poland. The place belongs to Gmina Zalewo in powiat Iławski.

Rąbity lies in the moraine landscape of the Upper Lands, about four kilometers southeast of Zalewo.

Rombitten was founded by the Teutonic Order as a hook Interest village. Since the early modern period it was managed as a manor in the 19th century and had the status of a Gutsbezirks. In 1874 this was the District assumed hilltops in a circle Morag. As part of local government reform ( resolution of the estate districts in Prussia) Rombitten was incorporated in 1928 in the neighboring rural community Sorbehnen. The management of belonging to the community and the district of then remained unchanged until 1945.

After integration into the Polish state Rombitten was renamed Rąbity and slammed the newly Gmina Zalewo. The town is the seat of a Schulz Office to the still Zatyki heard.
