Rachel Joyce (writer)

Rachel Joyce (* 1962 in London) is a British actress and writer. In 2012 she had " The improbable pilgrimage of Harold Fry " ( The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry) a worldwide bestseller.

Life

Rachel Joyce studied English at Bristol University and attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. As an actress with the Royal Shakespeare Company, she won the " Time Out Actress of the Year Award" for the title role in Ibsen's A Doll's House.

In 1999, she gave up acting in order to take better care of their family. She began to work as a radio playwright for the BBC. In 2007, she received the " Tinniswood Award" for her radio play To Be a Pilgrim.

One of her radio plays it processed into her first novel, " The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry " in which they processed the cancer death of her father, but does not tell its story. 2012, the novel was nominated for the Booker Prize and won the " New Writer of the Year Award".

Rachel Joyce is married to actor Paul Venables and has four children.
