Radio Television Afghanistan

Radio Television Afghanistan (RTA; persian رادیو تلویزیون ملی افغانستان ) is the state broadcasting company of Afghanistan. The company consists of Radio Afghanistan for radio, Television Afghanistan for television, the Orchestra of Radio Television Afghanistan Musicians and theater and radio Afghanistan Theatre. Apart from its headquarters in the capital, Kabul, there are regional facilities. Currently, about 3,000 employees work for the station.

Radio Afghanistan is the operator of Radio Kabul.

History

The Taliban regime introduced after his seizure of power a television. After the fall of the Taliban in late 2001, it was re-introduced and the distribution of music on the radio was allowed again.

The transmit operation still takes place to a limited extent. Radio Afghanistan sends 18 hours a day, with seven hours on medium and short wave reaching approximately 50 percent of the country. The remaining eleven hours of programs are regionally distributed in Kabul on VHF.
