The Radspitze on the boundary Seibel village, near the hamlet Mittelberg the market town of Marktrodach one with a height of 678 m above sea level to higher elevations in the Franconian Forest. The height difference between the Radspitze and the Losnitztal is the largest in the Franconian Forest.

History

On the top of the mountain there is a 20 m high observation tower. The Radspitzturm was built in its present form in 1955 by the local chapter Seibel village in the Franconian Forest Association. Already in the middle of the 19th century was on the Radspitze a wooden signal. The first wooden observation tower was erected in 1886, while the weather lasted only until 1898 stood.

The marked mountain bike route Rodachtal SÜD also runs the Radspitze.

Winter sports

In winter you can go cross country tracks for classic cross-country skiing and skating style to the Radspitze ( between Mittelberg, Oberehe mountain and Geuser ).

Recreational facilities

  • Launch site for paragliders and hang gliders at the southwestern edge of the Radspitze
  • Grünberg Kneipp spa at the foot of Radspitze near Seibelsdorf

Others

Until 1965, the Radspitzturm for a television test laboratory of the company Loewe Opta was used.
