Marktrodach is a market town without eponymous main town in the district of Kronach ( government district of Upper Franconia ) and is located about six kilometers east of the county town Kronach in two valley portions of Rodachtals and Radspitz-/Losnitztals, an extension of the Steinachtals. The municipality is situated on the main road 173 ( Kronach - yard ) and the Federal Highway 303 ( Kronach - Kulmbach ).

Geography

Marktrodach located in the Franconian Forest nature park at the Unterrodach. In the district Seibelsdorf is the Radspitze ( 678 meters ) with the largest valley - mountain - difference in the Franconian Forest.

History

Incorporations or merger

On May 1, 1978, due to the municipal reform the formerly independent communities Großvichtach (up to 1875 Vichtach ), Upper Unterrodach, Unterrodach, Zeyern (see also Zeyern ( noble )) and the market Seibelsdorf (up to 1972 County City Steinach ) under the name Marktrodach to a community together. The right to market the name was introduced by the former municipality Seibelsdorf. The seat of the municipality was established in Unterrodach.

Since 1996, a native of the community town of Upper Unterrodach Norbert Gräbner (SPD ) is first mayor.

Partnerships

The community part Seibelsdorf maintains a friendship with the community Antrifttal in Hessen Vogelsberg. There is a sponsorship between the two volunteer fire departments.
