Nordhalben is located in the Franconian Forest nature park in the Upper Rodachtal and the Ködeltalsperre.

History
In 1154 Nordhalben was first mentioned as a castle in the north woods. 1518 were transferred Nordhalben seal and Markets Law.
Incorporations
On 1 May 1978, until then independent municipality Heinersberg was incorporated.

The coat of arms description reads: Shared and split up; Up front in gold on the left inverted, Covered with a silver slant Links bar, red reinforced black lion; Rear hanging in the growing gold, black-clad body of a bearded man with a black stocking cap, headed by a sechsstrahliger red star; side by side down in silver on green ground four green deciduous trees.
Culture and sights
Nordhalben is nationally known for its tradition of lace of lace, which goes back to the founding of the only remaining municipal Lace School in Germany in 1903. The plateaus and floodplains of the Natural Park Franconian Forest to Nordhalben provide habitat for many protected animal and plant species. The scenic highlight is the Ködeltalsperre. Numerous well-marked routes and long-distance trails and the nearby Rennsteig offer hiking opportunities.

Regular events
In the northern forest hall (up to 2500 seats ) are regularly held entertainment and sporting events. Other event possibilities at the Visitors. St Nicholas Market is held every year on the second weekend of Advent in the North Forest Hall instead. Every two years (odd years) the lace school organizes the North Halbener clapper days with fair, exhibitions and lectures. On the Sunday after Michaelmas (29 September ) the fair of the Catholic parish church of St. Bartholomew is celebrated. The Jubilate Protestant Church celebrates its church festival on the third Sunday after Easter.

Traffic
Nordhalben was the end point of the now decommissioned Unterrodach Valley Railway. On the section between meadows and stone Nordhalben wrong since September 15, 2007, a heritage railway. The next stations are still actively served in Bad Steben, Kronach and Wurzbach. Public transportation bus lines connect Nordhalben with Kronach and yard. Connection points to the federal highways 9, 72 and 93 is approximately 25 kilometers from Nordhalben removed and the junction with the Federal Highway 73 is located about 50 kilometers in Lichtenfels.
