Rafiq Nishonov

Rafik Nischanowitsch Nischanow (Russian Рафик Нишанович Нишанов; Uzbek Rafiq Nishonovich Nishonov; born January 15, 1926 in Gasalkent, Tashkent Oblast ) is a former Soviet- Uzbek politician and diplomat. He was Soviet Ambassador and First Secretary of the Communist Party of the Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic.

Life

Nischanow, son of a peasant family, he studied history at the Tashkent Pedagogical Institute " W. G. Belinsky ". Since 1944 he was an instructor, and later secretary of the Komsomol Rajonkomitees Bostanlyk. From 1945 to 1950 he served in the Red Army. In 1949 he became a member of the CPSU. From 1950 he was an instructor, Director of Youth, secretary, and finally from 1959 chairman of a district party committee ( Oktjabrskij rayon ) in Tashkent. From 1956 he also served as director of the derivation Tashkent City Party Committee ( Gorkom ) and as Chairman of the Tashkent City Executive Committee ( gorispolkom ). From 1970 he was secretary of the Communist Party of the Uzbek SSR.

From 1970 worked as a Soviet ambassador Nischanow in Ceylon and was zweitakkreditiert in the Maldives, from 1978, he served as Soviet ambassador to Jordan. In 1985, he became Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic.

From December 1986 to April 1988 he was Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic, from June 1987, Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR.

From 12 January 1988 to 23 June 1989, he was then First Secretary of the Communist Party of the Uzbek SSR and replaced the due to corruption the criticized Inamschon Usmanchodschajew. From June 1989 to September 1991 he served as Chairman of Soviet of Nationalities of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR.

Nischanow retired in November 1991.
