Sharof Rashidov

Sharaf Raschidowitsch Raschidow ( Uzbek Sharof Rashidovich Rashidov Cyrillic Шароф Рашидович Рашидов; Russian Шараф Рашидович Рашидов; born 24 Oktoberjul / 6 November 1917greg in Dschisak, .. † 31 October 1983 in Tashkent ) was an Uzbek politician, writer and poet.

Life

Raschidow came from a farming family. In 1936 he graduated from the Pedagogical Institute Dschisak. In the following years he worked as a teacher at several high schools. From 1937 to 1941 he studied literature and education at the philological faculty of the University of Uzbekistan, Samarkand. At the same time he took a job as an editorial secretary of the magazine " Lenin -july ", where he rose over time to chief editor. In 1939 he joined the Communist Party.

1941 closed Raschidow his studies and made from 1941 to 1942 his military service. After being seriously wounded from military service released, he was from 1942 to 1943 director of a secondary school in his hometown. In 1943, he took his role as editor in chief of " Lenin july" again. In 1944 he was appointed Secretary for Executive Affairs of the Provincial Committee of Samarkand. He held this position until 1947. From 1947 to 1949 he was editor of the newspaper " Ksyel Uzbekistan ". From 1949 to 1950 he was chairman of the Uzbek Writers Union and then to 1959 Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic.

In the following years Raschidow traveled with diplomatic orders various African and Asian countries. In 1955 he took part in Helsinki at the 44th Conference of the Interparliamentary Union. From March to April 1956, he traveled with Anastas Mikoyan to Pakistan, Afghanistan, Burma, North Vietnam, India, China and Mongolia. In December 1956 he was head of the Soviet delegation to the held in Cairo Solidarity Conference of Asian and African countries. On the held in Tashkent in October 1958 conference of Afro- Asian Writers Raschidow gave the opening speech. In 1959 he was elected at the Plenum of the Central Committee of Uzbekistan to the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Uzbekistan. De facto was Raschidow so now head of government in Soviet Uzbekistan. In this role, he worked against the Russification and the spread of atheism. In 1956 he became a candidate member in 1961 a full member of the Central Committee of the CPSU, and 1961 candidate member of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the CPSU. From 1970, he held a seat in the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR.

As a result of the discovery of a scandal in the cotton industry Raschidow should have taken his own life. According to the official version, he died " suddenly and unexpectedly " a natural death. His successor as party leader was Inamschon Usmanchodschajew.

Writer

In addition to his political activities Raschidow worked as a writer. He wrote books without political background in which he describes, inter alia, the country life. He also wrote poetry. Raschidow was a member of the Lenin Prize Committee and participated in several juries in the allocation of literature, art and architecture with prices.
