Ragunda Municipality

Ragunda is a municipality (Swedish kommun ) in the Swedish province of Jämtland County and the historic county of Jämtland. The main town of the municipality is Hammarstrand.

The community forms with the community Bracke a municipal bond whose goal is to reduce costs and the maintenance of municipal services.

Geography

In Ragunda the Ammerån empties into the Indalsälven.

History

Historically, the present-day municipality was under the name Ravund long been a part of Jämtland. The municipality was created on 1 January 1974 by the merger of the municipalities Fors, Ragunda and Stugun.

Economy

The largest employer, with a share of 32.7 % of the total number of all employees the Ragunda.

Attractions

Near the village Utanede is the most northerly example of Thai architecture, a pavilion in honor of King Chulalongkorn of Siam ( Rama V ). According to legend, the king visited the site in 1897, after a sailor was rescued from Ångermanland a Siamese princess's life.

Former waterfall " Döda fallet " was created by the diversion of the river Indalsälven by Magnus Huss.
