Rahim Burhan

Rahim Burhan (* November 24, 1949 in Skopje, then Yugoslavia ) is a theater director with Macedonian citizenship.

Burhan was known as the founder, director and artistic director of the Roma theater Pralipe ( in German: brotherhood ) from Skopje.

Rahim Burhan grew up in Skopje and studied at the Yugoslav Film School. He now lives in Neuss.

In his theater productions he handled policy issues.

In Germany the theater Pralipe was best known for working with the Theater an der Ruhr in Mülheim an der Ruhr, under the artistic director Roberto Ciulli. The collaboration began with Ratvale Bijava ( Blood Wedding ) by Federico Garcia Lorca and Marat / Sade by Peter Weiss, directed by Rahim Burhan that in the theater in Raffelbergpark In 1991 premiere and has been shown in many cities of the Federal Republic, the Netherlands and Switzerland. Under the motto " The Gypsies are back " is dedicated the Theater an der Ruhr and Pralipe 1992 / '93 against the growing xenophobia in Germany. Ratvale Bijava was listed in the Romany language in about 15 cities, including in Halle, Hoyerswerda, Lubeck, Magdeburg, Munich, Rostock. Following the performances, the actors sought dialogue with the visitors. Pralipe 1998 with the staging of the International Theatre Festival MESS Yerma was invited to Sarajevo '98. To celebrate ten years of cooperation in 2001, the festival "10 years Roma theater Pralipe " was organized, in which an exhibition "Colors of Roma children " was shown alongside various productions and has been invited to discussions.
