Rainer Hanschke

Rainer Hanschke ( born December 22, 1951 in Finsterwalde ) is a former German gymnast. His home club was the SC Chemie Halle.

He won with the team of the German Democratic Republic (GDR) at the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships 1974 in Varna and at the Summer Olympic Games in Montreal in 1976 per a bronze medal in the team all-around. In the GDR championships he won in 1975 at the gymnastics rings.

After the end of his active career Rainer Hanschke completed a coach studied at the German College for Physical Culture ( DHfK ) in Leipzig, where he graduated in 1977. Subsequently, he worked as a coach at SC Chemie Halle and at SC Cottbus. After German reunification in 1991, he was the federal head coach for the junior level. From 1995 to 2002 he was head coach of the German national team. He is currently the athletic director and site responsible national coach for cadres of the German Gymnastics Federation (DTB ) for SC Cottbus.
