Rainer Künkel

Rainer Künkel ( born April 9, 1950 in Wiesbach ) is a former German football player.

Career

Künkel first played three years for KSV Hessen Kassel in the Regionalliga Süd. In 1974 he moved to SV Darmstadt 98 in the 2nd Bundesliga Süd. In Darmstadt he played extremely successful, as he scored in his first season in 24 games 13 goals in the first half of the 1975/76 season he scored even a whopping 16 goals in 17 games. Three times he scored three or more goals in a game. In October 1975 scored in three consecutive games nine hits, including five on October 4 against 1 FC Schweinfurt 05 In this game, he also managed a hat-trick in six minutes. In the DFB-Pokal, he was used three times for Darmstadt and met once into the goal.

Due to its performance of the FC Bayern Munich became aware of him and engaged him in the winter break 1975/76. However, he could enforce in the Bundesliga not. In his first six months he has only been used four times in the Bundesliga (2 goals ) and once in the DFB Cup. Over the next two years he was employed in a further 29 games in the Bundesliga, scoring four goals. Three times he played in the European Champions Cup and UEFA Cup. In any competition, he scored a goal, so the 1-0 winning goal in the quarter-final first leg against Dynamo Kiev. In the final of the UEFA Super Cup against RSC Anderlecht in 1976 he came in two games for use. For this purpose, six more missions and two goals came in the DFB Cup. In 1978 he moved back to the 2nd Bundesliga Süd and took up for two years for 1.FC Saarbrücken. He scored 33 goals in 64 games. In the DFB-Pokal, he scored twice on two assignments, his team never came yet beyond the second round. For the 1980 season he moved to SC Viktoria Köln to the 2nd Bundesliga Süd. Here he met 14 times into the goal in 42 games. So He improved his stats to 76 goals in 147 second-division games.
