Rainer Rochlitz

Rainer Rochlitz ( born September 16, 1946 in Hannover, † 12 December 2002 in Paris) was a German - French philosopher, art historian and translator.

After his study of philosophy in Germany, he specialized in the field of philosophical aesthetics.

He was a researcher at the CNRS, later director of the seminar at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales and at the Université européenne de philosophie in Paris.

Rochlitz has substantially helped to make known through translations the works of the young Georg Lukács and the works of Walter Benjamin and Jürgen Habermas in the French -speaking world. Some French-language works (including exhibition catalogs ), he has translated into the German language.
