Raji Sourani

Raji Sourani (Arabic: راجي الصوراني ) ( born December 31, 1953) is a Palestinian attorney and human rights activist.

Life

Sourani has been working 35 years for the observance of human rights in Palestine and the Arab world. As founder of the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights, he represents victims of human rights violations to justice and investigated and documented human rights violations by the Israeli and the Palestinian side. Sourani was repeatedly arrested by Israeli and Palestinian side and could secure 1977-1990 Gaza not leave. Sourani is president of the Arab Organization for Human Rights. He was awarded on September 26, 2013 for his work of Right Livelihood Award. He is the first Palestinian who is awarded the " Alternative Nobel Prize ".
