Rajko Mitić

Rajko Mitic ( born November 19, 1922 in Dolac, Bela Palanka, Yugoslavia, † March 30, 2008 in Belgrade ) was a Yugoslav football player and coach.

Mitic came from 1945 to 1958 in 572 games for Red Star Belgrade used, whereby he scored 262 goals. Previously, he played at the Belgrade SK. As a member of the Yugoslavian national team, he won two Olympic silver medals at the Games in 1948 and 1952. Among its successes and five league titles and four cup wins.

Mitic is best known, however, against the hosts, as he also suffered through a mishap during the football World Cup in Brazil in 1950 shortly before the game a head wound that required stitches and therefore had to act outnumbered his team in the first minutes of the game. Overall, it was used in 59 international matches, where he scored 32 goals.

After ending his playing career Mitic worked from 1967 to 1970 as national coach of Yugoslavia, in which period the Vice European Championship falls 1968. He is now considered one of the greatest Figurne the Yugoslav and Serbian football.
