Rajmohan Gandhi

Rajmohan Gandhi ( born 1935 in New Delhi ) is an Indian journalist, author, politician and professor. He is a grandson of Mahatma Gandhi.

Family

Rajmohan Gandhi is the eldest of four sons of the renowned Indian journalist and editor of the Hindustan Times Devdas Gandhi, the fourth son of Mahatma Gandhi, and Laxmiben Gandhi, the daughter of C. Rajagopalachari, freedom fighter and first Governor General of independent India.

His brother Gopalkrishna Gandhi Governor of West Bengal since 2004. His brother Ramchandra Gandhi was a famous philosopher, author and professor.

Life

Rajmohan Gandhi is a journalist and politician. He is a professor at the Centre for Policy Studies in New Delhi, and has written much about the Indian independence movement and its leaders, the Indian - Pakistani relations, human rights and conflict resolution.

He has lectured as a visiting professor in the United States and Japan. He received honorary doctorates from universities in Canada, Japan and Kyrgyzstan. Rajmohan Gandhi was elected member of the Upper House of the Indian Parliament and led the Indian government delegation to the annual meeting of the UN Human Rights Commission in Geneva.

The biography written by him of his grandfather "The Good Boatman: A Portrait of Gandhi " was published in 1995, " Rajaji: A Life of Chakravarti Rajagopalachari " in 1997.
