Rakovník District

Okres Rakovník ( Rakonitz District ) is located in the Central Bohemian Region in the hilly western part with many forests and rivers. The highest mountain is the Vlastec (612 m above sea level. M. ) in the north, is located in the middle of a plateau in the west, south and east are plains.

At 896 km ² live 52,700 inhabitants, 40 % of them in the three cities Rakovníka, Jesenice u Rakovníka and Nové Strašecí. 50 % of the population is economically active, 28 % of them in the industry and less than eight percent in agriculture and forestry. The average wage is 15,757 crowns, the unemployment 8%.

Rakovnicko is known for its ceramic and chemical industries. Largest employers are Rako and VALEO AUTOKLIMATIZACE. In the north and in the center of the district are hops, grown in the south of potatoes and cereals.

Attractions

  • Křivoklát Castle was built in 1270.
