Rakya Monastery

The Ragya Monastery, tibet. Ragya Gönpa ( Wylie: rgya rva dgon pa) or Ragya Trashi Kündeling ( rwa rgya bkra shis kun bde gling ) is the largest and most important Gelugpa monastery in the otherwise of " Red Hats monasteries " (ie the order of the Nyingmapa, Kagyüpa and Sakyapa ) dominated Golog region.

It is located in the large village of the district Ragya Make ( Maqên ), administrative region of Golog, Qinghai, China, about 350 km south of Xining on the North Shore of here Ma Chu said the Yellow River.

It was founded in 1769 by Arig Geshe ( dge bshes a rig ), also known Gyeltshen Öser ( rgyal mtshan 'od zer, 1726-1803 ) founded and developed with formerly up to 800 monks and five academic faculties to one of the most important Tibetan monasteries in the United southern Amdo.

Under the second Shingsa Rinpoche ( shing bza '), Shingsa Pandita Lobsang Dhargye Gyatsho ( shing bza ' pandi ta blo bzang rgya mtsho is rgyas; 1759-1824 ), here is a copy of the Kanjur, the so-called Ragya edition printed.

The Ragya Monastery stands on the monument list of Qinghai Province since 1988. It has been restored recently.
