Ralf Büchner

Ralf Buchner ( born August 31, 1967 in Neuruppin ) is a former German gymnast. His greatest achievement was the world champion on the horizontal bar in 1991.

Ralf Buchner, who grew up in East Germany, came in 1991 from Potsdam to Hannover. At age 21, he won at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul with the crew of the GDR, the silver medal in artistic gymnastics. In 1990 he was in Lausanne Vice European Champion on vault and third in the European Championships on high bar. In addition to the World Championship title on high bar in 1991 in Indianapolis, he took third place with the team. At the European Championships in 1992, he was third on pommel horse. The year 1994 brought the participation in the World Championship, the third place at the European Championships with the team a fourth place on pommel horse at the European Championships title as German champion on the horizontal bar and German Vice Champion at the horse and rings and a third place in the all around at the German Championships. In 1995 he finished fourth in the all around at the German Championships.

Today he works as a locksmith in Hanover and raises the gymnastics in the local gymnastics club always available.
