Ramboll Group A / S (also known as Rambøll ) is an engineering and consulting company in Northern Europe.

History

Ramboll was founded in October 1945 as " Rambøll & Hannemann " in Copenhagen. Børge Johannes Ramboll (1911-2009), one of the founding fathers, made in 1935 his degree in Civil Engineering at DTU ( Technical University of Denmark ). In 1944 he received his Ph.D. in Engineering. Rambøll worked for different companies, including for Wright, Thomsen & Kier A / S. Between 1937-1944 he was employed by Professor Christian Nøkkentvedt at DTU, where he also was professor later. Johan Georg Hannemann (1907-1980), the second founder, completed his studies at DTU in 1930. Subsequently, he accepted a position at anchor Engelund at DTU, where he was hired as a part-time employee. This employment he also after the establishment of " Rambøll & Hannemann " from even further. In 1947, both opened a field office in Aarhus. The Ramboll Foundation

All shares of the Ramboll Group A / S include the Ramboll Foundation (93 % stake ) and Ramboll shareholders, also called Ramboll partner (7% of the shares). Projects

Ramboll is involved in large construction projects worldwide. For the construction of the Öresund bridge (1995-1999), the Copenhagen, Denmark and Malmö, Sweden combines, Ramboll was also responsible for design, bridge construction, transportation and traffic planning, and security. The bridge is one of the most important traffic routes in Denmark. Both the international highway E20 and the Øresund railway line run across the bridge.

In the Great Belt Bridge (1988-1998) Ramboll was responsible for planning and design. The bridge connects Halsskov on Zealand and Knudshoven on Funen. 18 km to the west, a double-track railway and a four-lane route had to be built, adapted to the small island Sprogø, which is surrounded by the Great Belt.

When conducting engineering company Ramboll was significantly responsible for the construction of the new Royal Opera in Copenhagen ( 2001-2004). Activities have included design engineering, fire, safety regulations, project management, structural engineering, geophysical engineering services, geotechnical engineering services, HVAC engineering, electrical engineering, traffic engineering, transport planning and security. The distinguishing feature of the opera is the roof, which measures 157 x 90 meters. The structure of the roof is one of the largest roof structures worldwide. 2008 Ramboll won the " Outstanding Structure Award" from the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering ( IABSE ) for his participation in the design of the roof.

Since April 2009, Ramboll, in collaboration with Ove Arup & Partners Ltd ( UK) and Tunnel Engineering Consultants (TEC ) from the Netherlands conducted a feasibility study for the planning of a fixed transport link between Fehmarn and Rodby. The transport connection is to consist of a double-track railway line and a four-lane highway connecting Germany with Scandinavia closer. Ramboll created in this context, the design of the tunnel variant as well as the engineering and analyzes the consequences and impact on the environment, transport and safety of the design. In the case of a tunnel of 19 km long Fehmarn tunnel would be and thus belong to the world's longest and deepest tunnels five times as long as the tunnel under the Sound, and three times as long as the Transbay Tube Tunnel in San Francisco. Rambøll Management Consulting GmbH in Germany

The German subsidiary Rambøll Management GmbH was founded in 2000. Headquartered in Hamburg, a second office was opened in Berlin in 2004. In Germany Christoph Emminghaus took over the management in 2009 at Rambøll Management GmbH and as part of the internationalization strategy of the Group received the Rambøll Management GmbH in the same year the addition Rambøll Management Consulting GmbH.

2011 Rambøll Management Consulting moved within Hamburg and is headquartered in Chile since House C.
