Ramessesnakht

Ramsesnakht was an ancient Egyptian high priest of Amun under Ramesses IV to Ramses IX.

He was the son of the asset manager Meribastet I. and successor of Usermaatrenacht, who was the brother of Ramsesnakht policy. He succeeds between Year 26 of Ramses III. and 1 year ( 14 Schemu I) of Ramses IV. For the first time he is ten months after the accession of Ramses IV occupied. He was last in year 2 of Ramesses IX. mentioned and was later than for its 10th year in office, because at that time his son Amenhotep is occupied as High Priest.

Ramsesnakht initiated in the third year of the reign of Ramses IV, the large quarry expedition to Wadi Hammamat, were involved in more than 8,000 men. In 3 and 4, he also oversaw the distribution of wage goods to the royal grave workers. This was very unusual, as the workers were actually under the control of the southern vizier. However, the time of Ramses IV, they were at times not paid by the state but from the Temple of Amun at Karnak. Ramsesnakht is also mentioned in many other undated ostraca.

His grave was located in Dra Abu TT293 el- Naga and is now completely destroyed. He is further illustrated in the grave of his son Amenemope TT148 in Thebes and in the grave of Setau in el- Kab. Also by him two statues known that originate from the Cachette of Karnak Temple. On the grounds of the Karnak temple is also found several texts, eg on the east side of the eighth pylon, where he is represented in the worship of the Theban Triad ( Amun, Mut and Khonsu ). On three door post of the mortuary temple at Medinet Habu he will introduce shown in the worship of the god Ptah.
