Ramesseum

The Ramesseum is a purpose-built by Ramses II at Thebes - West Temple. It ranks with the other temples that stood there, to millions of years worldwide.

In the Ramesseum was the cult of the dead for Ramses II and the cult of the Theban triad of gods consisting of Amun, Mut and Khonsu, instead. Surrounded by a high wall had the Ramesseum like a fortress. A channel connected all the grave sites together. On the outer and inner walls of Ramses II had represented his great battle of Kadesh among others. The space of the Wall and the Temple was covered with warehouses and workshops. The footprint of the magazines was 8,300 m². For Ramesseum were also a Mammisi ( birthplace ), a port facility, a sacred lake. In the complex there is a damaged statue of a pharaoh, which is probably one of the worst ever created and transported monoliths.
