Life

Hamdallah has reached 1980 at the University of Jordan a bachelor's degree, a doctorate in 1982 a master's degree at the University of Manchester in 1988 at Lancaster University. He worked as a university professor of Linguistics and was president of the University of Nablus since 1998. During his fifteen- year tenure as university president, the number of students tripled to about 20,000. Under his patronage of several hundred million U.S. dollars were acquired, built a new campus and added new subjects in the university offer. He was also Secretary General of the Palestinian Central Election Commission and President of the Palestinian stock exchange. He is a member of the Fatah party.

After Prime Minister Salam Fayyad, who resigned in April 2013 and its then limited perceived transition mandate had expired, Hamdallah was commissioned by the President of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas, with the formation of a new government on 2 June 2013. The Cabinet was sworn Hamdallahs four days later and began work. Two weeks later, on June 20, 2013, Hamdallah submitted his resignation. Apparently Hamdallah saw his authority threatened by Abbas. On June 23, Abbas Hamdallahs accepted resignation.

The Gaza controlling Islamist Palestinian organization Hamas described the appointment as Prime Minister Hamdallahs illegal.
