Ramón Mantilla Duarte

Ramón Mantilla Duarte C.Ss.R. ( born July 17, 1925 in Piedecuesta, Santander, Colombia, † March 16, 2009 in Bogotá, Cundinamarca, Colombia) was Bishop of Ipiales.

Life

Ramón Mantilla Duarte joined the Congregation of the Missionary Community of the Redemptorists. He studied from 1942 to 1948 Philosophy and Theology in the Spanish Astorga and received on 5 February 1948, the ordination. From 1965 to 1966 he completed a postgraduate course in liturgy and in Madrid from 1966 to 1967 of sociology in Rome. At the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas, he received his doctorate.

1971 Pope Paul VI appointed him. Titular Bishop of oppidum Consilinum and appointed him Vicar Apostolic of Mocoa - Sibundoy. He received his episcopal consecration on March 13, 1971 Archbishop Angelo Palmas, Nuncio in Colombia; Héctor Rueda Hernández were co-consecrators, Bishop of Bucaramanga, and José de Jesús Rodriguez Pimiento, Bishop of Garzón - Neiva. In 1977 he was appointed Bishop of Garzón. 1985 Pope John Paul II appointed him for the third Bishop of Ipiales. 1987 his resignation was accepted.
