Rao Shushi

Rao Shushi (Chinese饶漱石; * 1903 Linchuan (Jiangxi ); † 1975) was a Chinese revolutionary and politician, who fell in the 1950s, power struggles and purges victim.

A native of Jiangxi Rao worked as first secretary of the East China Bureau of the Communist Party during the war in December 1945 in Shanghai, and in 1947 he was Commissioner of the Military District East China. After the founding of the People 's Republic of China, he headed the East China Administration, which had the aim of establishing communist rule in Eastern China. In the early 1950s, he was appointed head of the Organization Department of the Communist Party, where he allied himself with Gao Gang and tried to gain power at the expense of the government faction Liu Shaoqi. The hoped-for support from Mao Zedong remained; in March 1955 Rao and Gao were deposed and expelled from the party. The political purges by Rao and Gao are not worked up until now, up to now the accuracy of this exclusion is emphasized.
