RAO UES

Unified Energy System, or shortly UES (Russian РАО Единая энергетическая система России, short form РАО ЕЭС России ) / RAO Yedinaya energetitscheskaja sistema Rossii (short form RAO jees Rossii ) was until they completed in June 2008 splitting a company operating in the energy sector Russian group of companies with headquarters in Moscow.

Description

UES had around 577,000 employees worldwide (as of 2005). CEO Anatoly Borisovich Chubais was until last. The company sold electricity to its customers. UES operated several power plants in Russia.

The group produced according to the company in the power plants of the company about 70 % of the electricity produced in Russia and owned 96% of the high-voltage grids, and more than 70 % of the pass-through power cables in Russia.

The company exported stream, Scandinavia and the former Soviet Union were among the main customers.

For utilities included 70 different energy subsidiary companies and more than 40 power plants. For UES belonged to 100 %, the electricity transport company OAO Federal Grid Company and OAO SO- CDA (System Operator - Centralized Dispatching Administration).

UES was one of more than 50 % of the Russian state. The rest of the company's share was held by various smaller equity share owners.

Reform

The company was located since 2002 in a restructuring process, which had a stronger privatization aim to raise more funds from private investors.

June 30, 2008 UES was dissolved as a company after it has been previously divided into 23 independent utilities, including 21 private. This reform is to liberalize the Russian electricity market.
